New Toy

Yesterday I headed out and bought my new camera!

I've been saving for a couple years.  I've been researching only the last few months.  I found out the camera I was planning to get was replaced by this one.  So I planned on a different camera, but was led to this one by the salesman.  After still more research and about five trips to the camera store to ask questions and check out the camera yet again, I walked away a happy girl!

Of course, yesterday as Maddie rounded the corner I told her to stop.  I snapped a quick shot without really trying other than to test and see if it got rid of the noise (little dots) I was constantly seeing with my other camera.

Mission accomplished.  It was dark in our kitchen - look at her pupils.  But everything is clear and dot-free!!!  She couldn't figure out why I was taking a random shot (or 10) of her...then she noticed the new color of our camera!

I had about 20 minutes before my busy evening started so I played only a little...

Checked out the color...

Love that red!

Checked out the zoom on the new lens I purchased with it...

I've never had a zoom lens before.  This thing is the bomb-jiggity!!!  This is the neighbor's house behind us.  Way behind us.  There are five houses/yards and one street separating us.  This was taken from our kitchen where with our "regular" eyesight we can barely see that they have a front door!

Then I had to teach and leave for choir practice and didn't get home until 9pm.  When I returned it was time to study the manual.  Mike has been crazy busy working late each night so I headed down to his office to keep him company.  All he heard all night were a bunch of clicks...

First I tested with this exciting shot...

Why yes!  Those are brand new socks!

Then I tried my artistic flair...a "framed" shot...

Then I tried a bunch of different settings using Mike as my model.

Click..

Click...

Clickety-Click...

Click...

This was followed by the question, "Do you think you'll only ever take pictures of people that are annoyed by this?"

So I went back to my previous studies...

I still have half a manual to read and that will only get me through the first time.  I discovered tonight that I need to study up on how to edit these pictures.  They are sized differently than what I'm used to and I'm not sure how to work with the new settings.

"All in good time, my pretties....all in good time." [she says while wringing her hands]

So far this camera and lens are doing exactly as I'd hoped and I haven't even shifted into high yet!
