Hoops

Last week basketball season came to an end.  Jake had his playoffs.  I was so thankful that they were scheduled during times I wasn't teaching or playing for church!  I didn't get to attend many of his games because of my schedule but these were fun and exciting and I'm so glad I didn't have to miss them!

Tuesday was the first game.  I should have brought my camera, but it's probably a good thing I didn't.  This was a very exciting game and I don't think I could have taken pictures and cheered!  Both teams made their fair share of mistakes, but both teams also made some fantastic plays and shots!  It was all around fun to watch.

And quite frankly - heart-attack inducing.  The last four minutes were stressful.  My mom swore she wasn't going to come to Thursday's playoff game because she said she didn't breath the last four seconds of the first game.  It ended with Jake's team winning by one point!

Thursday's game was good too, though we were all able to breath through most of it.  Even my mom.  I did get some pictures.

I did take more than one picture, but quite frankly, this is the absolute best of the bunch.  Jake had a couple great blocks and one really good pass to a fellow teammate.  I absolutely loved when these 8 year olds pulled off a play that actually looked like they were a well-oiled machine.  It happened a couple times and it was a blast to watch.

Jake's team won the championship game and were awarded with their trophies.  Jake was pretty excited.

It's his first trophy ever.  He stressed that.  I offered to get him a trophy for piano playing.  It was followed by a nervous chuckle on his part and a quick change of subject.

The trophy is on his nightstand where he can keep an eye on it.  He had an awesome set of coaches that were great to offer their time and insight to helping each kid get better.  He's hoping some of the kids are on a baseball team with him next summer.

He has mentioned the idea of trying soccer more than once recently...but for now my mom has the winter off in the whole "heart palpitation" department.

That's so cute! I love the picture of Jake, it's awesome. I laughed so hard when I was reading the story and I came to the line that said "my mom swore....". My mom actually did that at one of my boys basketball games. She got too excited, and wasn't invited back to very many games. Good thing she lived out of state!!
